Second Pond Boulders

Went out today to check out the Roadside Boulders near Second Pond off route 3 near Saranac Lake. The problems on the Rosetta Stone seemed decent, but the most inspiring climbing came from the Monster boulder. Extremely powerful problems on the steep overhang, and nice clean lines on the vertical face made the boulder one to visit for sure. Info about the rocks can be found on Adirondack Rock's website, in Goodies > New boulder problems > Second Pond Roadside Boulders.

Peaked Mtn. Pond and

Peaked Mt. Pond,  located near Indian lake.  Thirteen pond trailhead.

I've made the trek north to get away from the masses and stresses of the southern state.   Had some time yesterday to hike so I got on Bing Maps and looked for my most promising pin point.  I've been dreaming about hiking Peaked Mt. pond for months now.   The rock shown on the map is very impressive.  Tons of definite huge blocks, waiting, untouched.  Peaked mtn pond is very close to Indian lake, so I was hoping by some miracle the rock was featured like snowy.   Not the case.   Hiked in one hour on a nice trail, then wandered around for five minutes and sure enough was greeted by giants abound.  Boulders ha, I mean huge, house size and overhanging on all sides.  My psyched quickly turned to disappointment,  not one of them had any resemblance of a hold.  Even if there where holds they soon ran out to sections of fifteen to twenty feet  blankness.  If one, just one, of the hundred blocks was well featured it would be worth the hour hike in it's self.  No worries, none of them are!  Sad, sad story this Adk park is,  I'm losing hope that there's still good new stuff out there.  So many days of hiking with nothing to show but choss and blank walls.  Somebody tell me I'm wrong please, better yet, show me!

The chill is in the air and I'm deeting on it!

Baxter Mountain Disappointment ...

Hiked up Baxter last weekend and can say that the rocks I found are both dirty, and poorly featured. I didn't stray far from the trail to find more rock but from what I saw, the holds didn't look like they had much potential.

New problems sent at Hogwarts

2 new problems sent and some great progress on a cool project.
First problem to go down:
Mirror of Erised (AIR-e-sed) shows the hearts desire. From my desire to send.
No grade for this yet, so go send and post up a grade for it.

-

Only a few moves "yeah another kiPpY special" but fun and powerful.

Project: I cleaned this a few weeks ago and am really amped up to see it go. Beyond what I am currently capable of so come do it and love it! Jut had great work for it and figured out some good beta.

This is a bad ass problem. Big moves, big slopers, small crimps and big fun.

Jut also sent a sweet variation to Dementor. Check out his blog for a vid (not up yet but...)  Pretty sick send.

Any one been up ampersand?

Word is there are lots of these.........

Anyone familiar with this??

WyMan MountaIn BusHWack HIke

This unfamiliar, 3,300 ft. peak has great views of the Dix Mountain
Wilderness. See waterfalls, a wild, steep-sided pass, scenic overlooks, and an interesting boulder-field along the way. Approximately
10 miles (half of it trail-less), 2,500 ft. ascent, at a moderate,
unrushed pace

Can this be???? Really Really??

Recon Mission

Knob pond area.

-
The cliff band

15 minute walk into the pond and another 10 to get to the cliff band and into the blocks below.
Looks like there is pretty good potential.

Another shot of another cliff on the way in.

I'm hoping to make a run in sometime soon.

Still a few more jems

Hogwarts.

This lovely line needs a send. Strong folks have been repelled.
The rock behind kinda ruins some of the joy.

This is where you are headed next time you go....

GULL POND

Really Great line.

I couldn't do all the moves but crazy fun to try. Steep, Powerful and all there.
4 moves to the top, about 12 feet of climbing.

Fell halfway up and did not try again.

Gull Pond.
Felt hard but it will go.
Great Problem.

Super fun problem. Great holds.
Very pretty place.
Room for more lines on this.
 Really good.
Good Slab
Couldnt find a line on the steep side.
This will be fun.

There is a lot of rock around. Everything I played on was under the cliff except the big slab.
Short hike in and seems like there is plenty to keep busy with for a day. Problems are very good and the rock is great.
I will spending some time here.
