Johnson Pond Info

Hope you don't mind me posting this.

" Drive 0.4 miles up Johnson Pond Rd, from its intersection with NY 9. Park on the left (north) side of the road and before a 30 MPH sign that is on the right. Cross the creek and walk 200' to the first boulder. There are 3-8 boulders, on state land, that have established problems. Good, clean rock."

I am looking forward to checking this out for myself.

Ensign Pond Area

There where only a handful of lines but what i saw i did like. I will be back here for sure. I did not find any of the other boulders that i have seen posted online.

This is a pretty sweet Roof feature that will have a good line or two. Pretty clean and the rock is of decent quality.

This may look like a pile but it is slighlty overhanging and will have 2 good lines for sure.

This is a super nice piece of rock. Steep tall and with a line of crimps trending to the right. The holds look pretty solid and if the stay this should be a super fun steep crimp line.

Here is another angle of the boulder above. From bottom to lip you should have atleast 12 feet of climbing on nice small crimps.

I looked around for only a few hours including the drive up and down the road. There where alot of hunters around and i did not want to push my luck with my dog running about. I stopped and looked at 3 different places that i saw rock but only one had anything of worth.
What I found is by no means going to be a destination but..... There is potential for it to be.
This is a 10 on the potential scale -- (there will be bouldering here) and as far as the quality of the area only time will tell but right now i'm thinking 5ish.

Johnson Pond Area

This area is off of exit 29. Last weekend I ended up taking a quick look around Johnson Pond area.
Although there is some good rock in the area the best stuff i saw was on private land. I did only have a quick look and my intrest is surley peaked with the potential that may be here. I would be intrested in where and what others have found in the area.
This boulder looked 2 star but sits between two no tresspassing signs.

It's pretty good sized and the closest face overhangings nicley.

This boulder was the first i saw of any value. the roof area good be pretty fun and the face pretty good two.

So I will be taking another drive up here and looking around abit.

Potash

Took a couple of hours and walked around potash proper. There is one boulder there that is pretty nice but i need to spend some more time looking around. To confirm it's worthlessness as a bouldering spot.  There are several great boulders that are just a few feet to short to be of any worth.  The rock is nice, the shapes are cool but...
